mindful massage

What makes mindful massage different from a regular massage?

Mindful massage is a deeply immersive, sensory experience—not just a technique. The fusion of slow, intentional touch, breathwork, and rhythmic flow helps you fully let go, supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing. Every session is completely tailored to what you need in the moment.

Do you only offer 90-minute massages?

It’s definitely my preference, because I believe it benefits my clients. That said - I understand it’s different strokes for different folks. If a 45 or 60-minute massage suits your situation or budget better, get in touch and let’s make a bespoke offering work for you.

What if I need a mindful massage but I don’t think I can make it work financially or I can’t find childcare?

We all have vastly different lives. It’s important to me that mindful massage is available to people regardless of financial constraints or life circumstances. In fact if you’re a solo mum, under the pump financially, or just feeling like you have too much on your plate, reach out to me. We’ll find a way to get you on the table and receiving some nurturing hands-on healing.

Do you consider neurodivergence when you work with clients?

For sure. While I’m not an expert in all things neurodivergence, I understand a good deal. I have firsthand experience, and I enjoy learning about optimal ways to tend to unique needs, desires, and preferences when it comes to bodywork and communication. If you have sensitivities or ways of being that you think are important I understand, let’s talk prior to your session. We can also ensure we spend adequate time getting clear on what you want and need before we embark on any bodywork at the time of your session. I am a highly sensitive person and personally benefit from mindful massage because it supports healthy nervous system regulation and gives me the reset I need if I become overwhelmed or exhausted. I work well with clients with ADHD, APD, HSP, SPD, and autistic traits.

Do I have to decide in advance what areas to focus on?

Not at all! We begin with a conversation about how you’re feeling, and we’ll design the session around that. Some people want full-body relaxation, others prefer deep focus on the back, neck, and shoulders, or even 90 minutes just on the head, face, and scalp. I also recommend trying a 90-minute abdominal massage with a castor oil pack at least once. It’s all about what serves you best.

How do you weave breathwork into the session?

If you want it tell me before or during your session. We can weave it in naturally to enhance relaxation, deepen the massage benefits, and regulate your nervous system. For example, we can use simple guided breathing at the start or during particularly tense moments to help release held tension.

Can I have a strong/deep massage or is it all gentle?

It can be as deep or as gentle as your body needs. While the pace remains slow and rhythmic, I can incorporate deep tissue techniques, passive stretching, and firmer pressure to ease deep-seated tension. Your comfort and relaxation are always the priority.

What should I wear?

Most clients undress to their comfort level (with full draping provided). If you prefer to stay clothed, we can modify the session accordingly.

What happens after my massage?

You’ll have time to gently transition back with a warm herbal tea and a small treat. It’s an important moment to let the effects settle before stepping back into your day.

How often should I book a mindful massage?

It depends on your needs. Some clients come monthly for maintenance, while others book more frequently during times of stress, transition, or deep healing.

I struggle to relax—will this still work for me?

Absolutely. In fact, this is designed for you. The slow, grounding nature of Mindful Massage helps quiet even the busiest minds, making it an ideal practice for those who find it hard to switch off.

pregnancy massage

Is pregnancy massage safe?

Yes! When performed by a trained therapist, pregnancy massage is safe and beneficial. I use specialised techniques and positioning to ensure both you and your baby are supported and comfortable. If you have any medical concerns, check with your healthcare provider before booking.

How will I be positioned during the massage?

We use supportive pillows and bolsters to keep you comfortable. You’ll typically lie on your side or in a semi-reclined position, ensuring safety and relaxation.

When can I start getting pregnancy massages?

Most people can receive massages throughout pregnancy, but many therapists recommend waiting until after the first trimester. If you have a high-risk pregnancy, consult your birth specialist first.

Can massage help with common pregnancy discomforts?

Yes! Massage can relieve lower back pain, hip tension, swollen ankles, headaches, and sleep issues. It also promotes circulation and relaxation, helping you feel more at ease in your changing body.

How deep is the pressure?

We work together to tailor the pressure to your comfort level. Some areas, like the lower back and shoulders, may benefit from firmer pressure, while others need a gentler touch. Certain deep pressure techniques are avoided for safety.

How often should I get a pregnancy massage?

This depends on your needs! Some clients come monthly in the second trimester and more frequently in the third trimester as their body prepares for birth.

postpartum massage

When can I have a postpartum massage?

You can have a massage as soon as you feel ready! Some clients come within the first few weeks, while others wait until they feel more settled. Depending on your birth experience and where you’re at in your healing, we may modify positioning and techniques to keep you comfortable.

Yes! Massage can ease muscle tension from feeding and carrying your baby, support emotional wellbeing, reduce swelling, and aid in relaxation during this big transition.

I’m breastfeeding—can I still have a massage?

Absolutely! We adjust positioning for comfort, and if needed, you’re welcome to feed your baby before or after the session. Massage can even help release tension in the chest, shoulders, and neck from breastfeeding.

Can I bring my baby to my massage?

Yes. Some clients bring their baby, while others prefer to take this time for themselves. You can also book a home visit . I work around you and your needs. Let’s chat about what works best for you.

I feel guilty taking time for myself—should I wait?

Caring for yourself is caring for your baby. When you feel rested, nurtured, and supported, it benefits your whole family. You deserve this time.

I am postpartum as a result of a miscarriage, termination or stillbirth - is massage a good idea?

Yes. I personally believe receiving mindful massage is incredible when navigating loss of this kind. This is a time when you need nurturing and tending to on a level you may have never needed before. I can meet you where you’re at on your journey and we can talk through what you want and need. If consulting someone who is supporting you medically first feels important, let’s do that. I understand 2 out of 3 of these losses personally and have trained in modalities that are gentle, effective, and trauma-informed.
